What is Box AI?

Box AI is an AI boxing coach app for iPhone. It grades your filmed rounds on offense, defense, footwork and guard, runs camera pad drills that call punches and time your reaction, and builds a weekly training plan around your level, schedule and equipment. It's made for people learning boxing at home, or training between gym sessions.

How it works

  1. Prop up your phoneGet your whole body in frame. A few feet of floor is enough, with no bag, partner or gloves required.
  2. Box a roundFollow Live Pads, where the camera calls each punch, or film your own shadow boxing, bag work or pad work.
  3. Fix one thingGet your grades, timestamped fixes like “rear hand drops on the hook,” and the exact drill for each one.
Live Pads screen showing a hit in 312 milliseconds, with the jab recognized and a combo of three.

Try Live Pads in your browser

Prop up your phone and throw six punches. The camera calls each one and times your reaction. It takes about 15 seconds, and your video stays on your device.

Box AI vs YouTube vs a boxing coach

A good in-person coach gives the best feedback, and Box AI doesn't replace one. YouTube is free but can't see you. Box AI sits between them: feedback on your own rounds, whenever and wherever you train.

Questions

Can an AI boxing coach replace a real coach?

No. A phone camera can't feel your timing, hold pads or spar with you, and a real coach sees things a camera misses. Box AI is for the hours you train without one: it gives you structure and feedback at home, and helps you get more from any coaching you do have.

How accurate is Box AI's technique feedback?

Treat it as a useful estimate, not a measurement. Box AI reviews your round from a single camera angle, so it can miss or misread fast moves, and lighting and framing matter. The app labels its grades as estimates. It doesn't measure punch power.

Can you learn boxing at home without a coach?

You can learn the fundamentals at home: stance, guard, the basic punches, footwork and simple defense. Timing against a live opponent takes a gym. Our guide on learning boxing at home covers what to practice and how to check your form.

Do I need a punching bag or gloves?

No. Live Pads and shadow boxing only need your iPhone and a few feet of space. If you have a bag or a pad partner, you can film that work for review too.

Is Box AI good for complete beginners?

Yes. The plan adapts to your level, and the drill path starts with stance, guard and your first punches. New to all of this? Start with shadow boxing for beginners.

Can I try Box AI before it launches?

You can try a short version of Live Pads in your browser, with no signup or install. The camera calls six punches and times your reaction. It runs on your device, and your video isn't recorded or uploaded. It only checks jabs and crosses, and the app's round grading isn't part of it.

How much will Box AI cost?

Box AI will be free to download, and a Box AI Pro subscription is required to use its features. Prices will be shown in the app before you buy. Joining the waitlist is free and doesn't commit you to anything.

When does it launch, and is it on Android?

Box AI is launching on iPhone first and needs iOS 18 or later. We haven't announced a launch date or an Android version. Join the waitlist and we'll email you the day it's available.

Is this the same as Box AI from Box.com?

No. This Box AI is a boxing training app. It has no connection to Box, Inc., the cloud content company, which uses the same name for its AI features.
